Racing at Oswego Yacht Club

Each Wednesday evening from mid-May to Mid-September upwards of 30 boats compete in Oswego Yacht Club's PHRF and J24 fleets. In addition to the Wednesday night action, the fleets support an annual home and home series with the Selkirk Yacht Club, an annual long distance race, a season ending Haul-Out Challenge, and the Firecracker JAM, a new event held on the July 4th weekend.

The PHRF Fleet competes in three divisions including one non-spinaker division, while the J24 fleet competes in its own division. After racing, skippers and crew ascend to the Club for hot dogs, hamburgers, and whatever else the Galley Girls come up with. The racing and the camaraderie make Wednesday evenings the high point of the week at OYC.

Each week Fleet Captain Dick White recaps the action on the water in his email letter Fleet Talk. Informative and humorous at times, Dick keeps us posted on the standings and how the Race Committee faired. Along with his musings, photos from the week's action are attached to his mail.
