Membership Catagories, Fees & Benefits

Voting Memberships

Life: Life memberships are individual memberships for people who have been an OYC member for 20 consecutive years  and have reached the age of 62, or have made a special contribution or provided service to the club as  recognized  by a unanimous vote of the Executive Committee.  Life members are no longer required to pay membership dues.

Individual: Individual members are single adults over 21 years of age. Individual members may cast one vote.

Family: Family members are cohabitating  adult pairs over 21 years of age and their dependants under the age of 25. Each of the 2 adults over 21 may cast 1 vote. In single parent families, the head of the household may cast one vote.

Non-voting Memberships

Honorary: honorary members are distinguished by their special service to the club, or to recreational boating in general. An honorary member is awarded this status by a unanimous  vote of the Executive Committee, or  a 2/3 vote of the membership  and are listed in the by-laws. Honorary members are accorded guest privileges at the club facilities.

Individual Social: Social members are those individuals who share an interest in the Club's activities and purpose and wish to be affiliated with, but not a Voting member of the Oswego Yacht Club. Family Social members are cohabitating  adult pairs over 21 years of age and their dependants under the age of 25.

Young Adult: Young adult members are those individuals 16 years of age or older, but less than 25 years of age, who are not dependent children of Voting members. Young Adult members must meet  all requirements for membership  specified in the by-laws, except initiation fee, and if under the age of majority after obtaining parental consent , Young Adult members may enter a boat in the racing fleets.
